What are the best fillings for cake decorating

A lot of people think that cake filling is a difficult thing to do. But, if you make it right, you will create a stunning filled cake without any drama. All flavors must compliment each other, like chocolate with oranges or almonds with hazelnuts.

Remember about keeping the cakes in the refrigerator. If not whipped cream and mousse will separate or get soggy. Berries will start dripping everywhere and can get soggy as well. Keep the butter cream in the fridge to avoid frosting separation.

The Cakes which contain fondant should be kept in a room temperature and never in a refrigerator. If you use berries and whipped cream be sure it will be eaten in next few hours.

When you prefer to prepare your cake couple days before the big celebration, make sure you use syrup or a flavor wash on cake layers, so they will keep the moisture up and will let you add the fillings later on.

Make sure to ask your guests for the dietary restrictions. The last thing you want is a dietary conflict when you are decorating your cake for your guests or a customer. If one of them is a diabetic, you may need to buy an extra dessert for him or her.

If on the occasion there will be other food served, make sure the flavors of the cake are stronger and the colors brighter. This will make the cake look impressive and stand out from the rest of the food.

Cake Fillings Examples

- icing flavors - Raspberry, Chocolate, Lemon, Mocha, Orange, Almond extract.

- Any jam you have

- Mocha butter cream with a sprinkle of chopped chocolate bars, caramel sauce and some chopped peanuts.

- Chocolate mousse, custard in vanilla flavour and a whipped cream

- Make a flavor explosion by brushing the cake with a almond, lemon, raspberry or orange liqueur before putting the icing on it.

- Davinci Flavored Syrups are perfect to enhance the smell and a taste. Over 100 flavors to choose from, all of them non-alcoholic options.

- To avoid problems with cake filling noozing out on the sides: Try a jam with fruits and heat it in the microwave

30 seconds and the jam should be warm and ready. Stir it with a small pack of jello of the same flavor.

This will intensify the flavor. Wait few minutes after spreading it on the first layer and you will see the jam setting up.

You can simply put the second layer knowing there will not going to by any spill-overs. First layer should now be in the freezer for around 15 minutes for jam to set even more. You can use the same jam for next cakes, and reheat it again safely but don`t keep it for too long though.

Try to make a dam of butter cream around the whole cake edge, so the fillings will stay on their place. The icing and the layers will remain perfect and the cake will look beautiful as long as needed.
